The S5 is a compact convertible based on Audi’s A5 coupe/convertible model lineup. Into the base car’s shapely body it packs a more potent powertrain and performance-oriented chassis.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2021, all that changes for the S5 Cabriolet is the addition of a few new standard features: lane departure warning; wireless Apple CarPlay smartphone integration; and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with toll module.
The uplevel Technik trim gains rear-seat USB charging as standard.
Available Trims
Audi sells the S5 Cabriolet in Progressiv and Technik trim levels. Both use a 3.0L turbocharged V6 engine, an eight-speed transmission and all-wheel drive.
Standard Features
Among the S5 Cabriolet Progressiv’s exterior features are 19-inch wheels and tires, a power-folding acoustic roof, LED matrix headlights, passive keyless entry, hands-free trunk opening, LED taillights with dynamic turn signals, and heated/auto-dimming side mirrors.
Inside, there’s a split-folding rear seat, an integrated garage door remote, three-zone climate control, heated front seats, a heated/leather steering wheel, Nappa leather upholstery, brushed aluminum trim, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass.
High-tech bits include a 10.1-inch infotainment display, a 10-speaker stereo, a digital gauge cluster, navigation, satellite radio, and rain-sensing wipers.
The S5 Cabriolet’s safety kit comprises city-speed forward collision detection and mitigation, rear collision warning and mitigation, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, exit warning, blind spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, automatic high beams, and tire pressure monitoring.
Technik trim adds laser light headlights, a top-view camera, a Bang & Olufsen stereo, headlight washers, power-folding side mirrors, rear-seat USB charging, ambient interior lighting, and upgraded LED taillights.
Key Options
A comfort seating package adds sport seats, Milano leather, front-seat lumbar/ventilation, and neck-level heating.
The advanced driver assistance pack brings adaptive cruise control, traffic congestion assist, active lane assist, all-speed forward collision avoidance assist, traffic sign recognition, and hands-on detection.
Stand-alone extras include wireless smartphone charging, 20-inch wheels, a sport differential, dynamic steering, adaptive suspension, a head-up display, heated rear seats, and a sound-enhancing exhaust.

Audi’s fuel consumption estimates for the S5 Cabriolet are 11.7/8.9 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
With the S5 Cabriolet, Audi competes with BMW’s M440i convertible and the Mercedes-AMG C 43 convertible.
